Mattie currently defines science fiction as a means of exploring fantastical lands without having to leave the comfort of your home. It is also a way to experience things are not possible yet, and set your imagination ablaze.
Science fiction is important to Mattie because it is a place with no limits, and it's a way to see the world in different ways. Science fiction is also important to Mattie because sometimes everyday life can seem very mundane, and science fiction is a way to momentarily escape that.
Mattie hopes to strengthen her skills as a writer, even in areas other than science fiction. She hopes that this course will inspire her to the point where she can come up with a novel idea, and perhaps even complete one.
Mattie's primary interest in science fiction is extraterrestrial life.
Some Mattie wants to answer are: Where does the line between science fiction and fantasy begin and end? How can science and science fiction be used together to make your science fiction writing as realistic as possible? Who are some of the masters of science fiction?
